December 2005

Driving to a drumming concert in Ottawa, my girlfriend Jean Brereton, who is an astrologer, and I, had a wonderful conversation about acting from within our authentic selves.

How each of us in the world, regardless of our socio cultural or religious path, will uncover Truth at the core of our beliefs, and that those core truths will resonate light regardless of our path. We agreed a vital part of becoming authentic is moving into your heart and being yourself.

Moving towards those core truths is a quest for meaning, which for me, requires being open to what is trying to present itself. While immersed in a quest, life becomes rich with meaning, full of symbolism, synchronicities, and profound moments when the little pieces all fall together. Receiving these clues requires being open to all the different resources that are presenting themselves to us. At one point Jean said  “to facilitate truth we must develop the capacity to attend to metaphor.”

For example a few days earlier, I had received a number of e mails that, taken separately, were unrelated, but when viewed from a larger perspective were pointing to a “message” which was basically ‘it is time to let go of any fears you have and dare to be yourself’. The most significant part of this call to authenticity, was that it was not so much directed at me, but to each of us in the world at this time.

One of the sources was the announcement of an influx of spiritual energy to the planet that is taking place between November 11 and December 22, 2005 (see www.whatsuponplanetearth.com and www.starchildascension.org) Now although not all of us would feel our psychic energies are adept enough to sense this energy, I would like to share how some describe it, so you can see if you have perhaps been resonating with this energy "unconsciously," and also to give you an opportunity to consciously interact with it. On the quest we always have lots of opportunity to confirm and support our own journey. Essentially we have reached a place where the number of us holding light energy is sufficient to allow the "darkness" to express itself. The reference here is to the darkness that results from repression, fears, and injustice. This dis-ease needs to be released at an individual level as well as culturally and planetarily. Likely there will be more catastrophic events as the earth balances herself. So too, our call is to move into our hearts trusting that all which is not part of our higher purpose will dissolve away. This is always true, but the energies right now will support us quite dramatically.

My interpretation of this period is that as I live authentically (doing only what feels right), I will be supported. Those relationships, which do not serve me, will fall away and I will draw to me what resonates with my heart. Certainly I am aware of my dreams right now, and they are giant colour films full of metaphors about civilization and humanity’s role in the world, and darkness appears under every stone, while the lighting in the dreams is rapturously bright.

As I shared these thoughts with Jean she was able to draw metaphors to the movements of the heavens right now. The farther planets stay in their signs for years at a time because they are much farther away from Earth and appear to move slowly across the heavens, so their influence is there long enough to affect world events. Uranus is now sitting in Pisces, which she feels creates opportunities for social justice and social change informed by love and compassion and our connectedness. Before Uranus’ influence resulted in gaining new ideas and new perspectives by being "different," an individualist, but now we are moving toward our connection to each other.

Pluto, which is about survival and being drawn to the core, is in Sagittarius, which is the sign associated with belief systems and the quest for Truth and meaning. Saturn is in Leo, which for Jean presents an opportunity to not worry about how other people see us (which tends to make us try to be what we are not), but rather, bring our authentic self into the light.

So if you are feeling tired these days, that’s fine, you are letting go of what is not really you, and moving into your heart-based authentic self. So this winter solstice, when we are celebrating our longest night, we are also celebrating the re-birth of the light we bring into the world, and the more we do what only feels right the more light we bring to the world. Happy solstice.
