April 2009

Many of us are aware of the importance of working with the earth, and her seasons, in order to bring a depth of meaning to and empower our endeavors: planting seeds of intention in the spring, giving them form in the summer, integrating our creations into the rest of our lives in the fall and, with winter solstice, meditating on what our creations have taught us over the last 9 months.

This year there are celestial energies enhancing these natural earth cycles so that, in a truly profound way, what we plant in our personal lives this year, we will see manifested  in the collective.  We are co-creating the future of our beautiful planet. If you have not set your intentions yet this spring, I would like to share with you  a few aspects of the alchemy of intention that will enhance your creative abilities.

The first is to be clear about what you are creating: in other words taking responsibility for your thoughts, and being sure to write them down so that you can examine them again this time next year.  Once you have formulated your intentions, harbour no doubts that they will grow, then surrender  them up to the wisdom of the god/goddess-self within, to manifest them in a good and sacred way.

Secondly, it is important to set your intentions from a place of personal power: your true essence. This means knowing your personal story. When you look over your shoulder you can see the pattern of the choices in your life. The reflection of those choices you have made in the past are the essence of your strength and capability to make changes.

This is relevant on a day to day basis as well for all of us. As we each get clearer about what makes us happy, ie who we really are, and if we make our daily choices based on whether they are aligned with our deeper self, they will massively improve our ability to create what we want, and will benefit all of us and the planet at the same time.

Thirdly, it is important to remember that each of us is, alchemically,  made of light (consciousness) animating a body which is made of earth, air, fire, and water. So when you set your intentions connect to all of your natural elements. Draw in your higher self, however you would like to visualize that aspect of you that is indivisible from the universal consciousness. Next, pull the energy and wisdom of the earth up through the nerves of your feet into the matter of your body; as you breathe, fill your lungs with the stories whispered to the wind by mountains and leaves alike; feel the water crystals flowing through you from endless oceans;  and charge it all up with the fire of the sun that warms your blood. You are ready.

Setting intentions for the spring is a great opportunity to practice deepening our relationship with our true essence and to practice taking responsibility for all that we create in the world.

One of my intentions is about bringing my body into a healthy balance. As I began musing on how this might look, or be worded, the importance of bringing more alkaline foods into my body was brought to my attention a number of times. Likewise, new German medicine kept coming up in conversations, which is about addressing the emotional cause of dis-ease. So this coming year the more clearly I set that intention of health and balance, the more likely the alkaline/acidic food focus and the emotional cause of disease will be more in the media  and the minds of those who had not considered these options previously.

You might intend, for example, to have a food garden this year. At a personal level it might be motivated by a desire to be outside, to feel earth under your fingers, and to get some good fresh greens into  your body. At a collective level you are addressing the renewal of our food production system which has been industrialized, genetically modified, marginalizing the third world, hurting our own farmers, destroying bird species and bees, the list goes on. Yup, big topics,  but by working in a garden or a co-operative garden, you are one step closer to changing the world and magnetizing more of the same in the hearts and minds of others.

Some friends and myself are organizing some weekend (pot luck and by donation) gatherings, where we can budget the time to focus on our personal stories or spiritual autobiographies, learn skills for making our relationships with nature a two way dialogue, and sharing skills for making life change. If you would like to join us send me an e mail and as the dates get sorted out, we’ll let you know. The more the merrier.
